Overview

Assignment Due is a 3D survival horror game developed by a student team from Asia Pacific University (Year 2, Semester 2). Set within a university campus, the game captures the high-stakes pressure of student life where a simple birthday prank turns into a race against time.

The player takes on the role of a student who must recover their scattered belongings—a laptop, charger, USB, and mouse—and complete a final assignment before the looming deadline. However, the university is no longer a safe haven; a rigorous school guard patrols the halls, and as time slips away, the atmosphere shifts from a tense stealth mission into a psychological nightmare.


Key Features

Tense Stealth Gameplay: Navigate the school corridors, using lockers to hide and fire alarms to distract the patrolling guard.

Dynamic Horror Elements: After five minutes, the environment and the guard begin to transform, increasing the psychological tension as the deadline approaches.

Interactive Mechanics: Use line tracing to interact with doors, lockers, and hidden notes that provide critical hints for survival.


Two Unique Levels:

Level 1 – The Scavenger Hunt: Explore the first floor of the school to find your missing computer parts within a 10-minute time limit. Solve riddles, unlock doors with passcodes, and manage a limited inventory to secure all items at the guardhouse.

Level 2 – The Final Submission: Locked in the guardhouse, you must repeatedly press the 'F' key to fill your assignment's progress bar. Your location is fixed, and the only way to win is to submit the work before the guard reaches you.


👥 Development Team

Lim Wei Qi: Lead Programmer & Level 1 Designer – Core gameplay systems, timer logic, inventory management, and technical C++ implementation for the scene manager. Focused on puzzle interaction and player mechanic for Level 1. 

Ham Xiao Tong: 3D Modeler & Level 2 Designer – Creation of school environment models (chairs, tables, lockers) and implementation of Level 2 mechanics.

Wong Jing Le: AI Specialist & UI/Media Designer – Development of the enemy AI behavior tree, UI element design, and production of game videos and animations.


📖 Background

This game was created as a group assignment for the module CT010-3-2-CGRP at Asia Pacific University. The project served as an exploration of advanced game development techniques in Unreal Engine 5, focusing on AI perception, resource management, and immersive 3D storytelling.

Character Models: Sourced from FAB (Human and Mutant assets).

Environment Assets: Some furniture and school items sourced from FAB; architectural models custom-made by the team.

Icons & UI: Designed by the team with reference assets from Pinterest and Pixabay.

Audio: Sound effects sourced from Pixabay.
